NAMIBIA
WELCOME TO NAMIBIA
Namibia on the southwest coast of Africa has long been a favorite of European travelers who want to enjoy exotic safari tours, quiet seaside retreats, luxury get away or camping road trips through the spectacular countryside. While Namibia has flown under the radar of most American Tourists, there are plenty of compelling reasons you should visit Namibia. You will feel welcome in Namibia, no matter what language you speak. No Ebola, no known IS militant groups, low crime, drinkable water and a really good infrastructure. This country has been free from political violence since it won its independence from South Africa in 1990. There are no racial tension.
The sheer abundance of game, the dramatic landscapes, the affordability, the accessibility are only some of the reason to visit Namibia. NAMIBIA is a extraordinary place, magnificent, magical and mysterious. You will struggle to find more striking natural landscapes or bigger clearer skies anywhere in Africa.
The sandy landscape is the oldest desert on earth and although the Kalahari and Namibia desert only share the designation of being deserts , each offers a truly unique experience.
You will find so many activities while you are able to escape the crowds. For a place that at first glance seems so lifeless , it is astonishing to see all the wildlife so close and personal.
HISTORY AND TOURIST ATTRACTIONS
VISA REQUIREMENTS
Canadians do not require a tourist visa to enter Namibia.
-
All travelers will need a passport valid for at least 90 days following your departure date from Namibia. However, we strongly recommend traveling with 6 months validity on your passport at all times. Citizens of Canada can refer to www.passport.gc.ca for forms and instructions for new passport applications and Canadian passport renewals.
-
Make sure your passport has blank Visa pages.
Most destinations, including Namibia, require that you have adequate un-used pages in your passport, allowing for any necessary stamps upon arrival and departure. We recommend that you have at least two free pages in Visas section of your passport before any international travel. Canadian citizens can get extra passport pages added to their passports at www.passport.gc.ca.
Health
We recommend that our guests take anti-malaria tablets as prescribed by their physician or health clinic. The tablets are advisable all year around. The lodges provide mosquito repellant spray and mosquito nets.
CLIMATE
The classic period to visit Namibia is the Jun/Dec dry season, when safari conditions tend to be at their best. However the coastal desert areas, which are generally of most interest, have a completely different climate and are good year round.
The climate in Namibia varies considerably across the country and a basic understanding of these differences can be critical to the trip building process ... Usually anything from 0-40 degrees C
ELECTRICITY
Socket outlets are largely the South African three round pin variety, although you may also encounter European two round pin sockets and British three rectangular pin sockets, all 230V/50Hz
Most good lodges provide universal adaptors, although we always recommend bringing your own.
